It was hard to explain what had drawn Minos to the sewers. Maybe it was the idea of being underneath the city, away from the troubles and hassles that the general dog on the street was likely to cause. Maybe because the snow had quickly become bothersome to him, and after months of seeing nothing but white it was nice to be back in the dark once more. Or maybe he was just bored and looking for somewhere new to explore. Either way, he had been wandering along the tunnels for what felt like hours now, and already the novelty had warn off. His pale yellow eyes searched madly through the murk for signs of life (or even the light to catch them by), and the only sound that surrounded him was the sloshing of paws through whatever it was that lay on the floor here, and the almost undetectable growl that nearly always simmered in his throat. The air felt damp, almost like wading through water in itself, and long ago Minos had decided the cleansing power of snow would be picked any day of the week over the moist and grime that festered down here.

Finally, he reached what appeared to be a meeting point of many tunnels like the one he had trawled through, and an open manhole far overhead shone a single beam of light down towards the centre. Moving into the glow thankfully, he noticed with a tinge of frustration that the sun was setting outside, and soon even this small relief would be gone. He needed to make his way out of here soon or be stuck in the dark all night, but in all honesty finding a way back would be harder than it seemed, especially with no promise of a guiding light at the end of the tunnel. Growling to himself heatedly, he sat down on the relatively dry concrete and tried to sort out some kind of route in his mind. But, like it or not, he was finding it hard to deny he was completely and unmistakably lost.
